The 17 articles of the Code of Ethics represent a promise of performance and professionalism by all who become REALTORS®. As a result the term REALTOR® has come to connote competency, fairness and high integrity. Enforcement of the Code supports the REALTORS®' commitment to protecting the public and preserving a competitive marketplace. The Greater Blackfoot Association of REALTORS® provides its members and consumers multiple opportunities to resolve issues of potentially unethical conduct. Claims of unethical conduct may be resolved through a full due process hearing or by use of the ombudsman, mediation or citation programs. Boards and Associations of REALTORS® are tasked with upholding the REALTORS® Code of Ethics.
This Code holds REALTORS® to a higher standard of conduct—going above and beyond legal obligations—and applies only to real estate professionals who choose to become REALTORS®.
Disputes between real estate professionals, whether they are REALTORS® or not, often stem from simple misunderstandings or communication issues. If you’re experiencing a problem, consider first speaking directly with the real estate professional involved or the Designated Broker of their firm.
However, if the matter remains unresolved after speaking with the individual, or the Designated Broker you have the option to file a formal ethics complaint through our regional process.
